The Lavis family provides a relaxing day of fun and learning with their company, Vintage Treks, North Carolina Wine Tours.  Jim and Josh will share their in-depth knowledge on many wine related subjects, including the history of the North Carolina wine industry, where it stands today, the challenges ahead, and what makes it unique. 

Jim's and Carol's experience originated with pioneering the first retail wine shop in the state (and country) to specialize in North Carolina wines.  Their shop, called Carolina Winesellers showcased more than 220 North Carolina wines from across the state; the largest selection anywhere and unheard-of at the time.  "Our goal was to do everything we could to promote the growth of the industry."  The Lavis's spent three years learning and researching the industry, showcasing individual wineries with weekend tastings, and drawing crowds with their mini wine festivals twice a year that featured several NC wine producers.  Their business partnerships with North Carolina winery owners and wine makers prepared them to deliver informative wine tours throughout North Carolina.  In 2005 they co-founded North Carolina's first education-based wine tour company utilizing their customer base, their extensive knowledge of the industry, its wines and producers to provide quality tours.  Later, in 2009 along with their son Josh they founded Vintage Treks, North Carolina Wine Tours.

Josh brings an added benefit to Vintage Treks with his extensive experience in the wine import and wholesale sectors. He has traveled to wine-producing countries in Europe and has been able to work directly with some of the world's most notable wineries. 

The Lavis's pride themselves on their knowledge of the industry and their efforts to introduce more wine enthusiasts to the North Carolina wine experience.  Through the pioneering efforts of Carolina Winesellers, and providing informative wine tours their efforts continue on.  Jim and Josh's expertise as tour guides ensure a day filled with relaxation and learning for your organization, small or large group, friends and family, or significant other. Wine tours with Vintage Treks consist of stops at three to four wine tasting locations, a winery tour, a vineyard discussion, tastings at each location, lunch, and as much Q & A as you like throughout the day.
